The Caissons

by Jim Taylor

This is a new (and I hope final) arrangement of THE HERBERT BILHARTZ MARCH. I first composed this with the ENCORE composition program around ten years ago. It has been on the "back burner" for years while I decided how I wanted set it up with the many counter-melodies. I also added canon/artillery parts, but in the directions, I specified that the report must be exactly on the indicated beat (I've heard too many random canons in the 1812." I renamed the march and noted it was in honor of Mr. Bilhartz. If you go back and listed to earlier versions, you will hear a world of difference between a MIDI file and the sound file produced by the Finale program. See if you hear the 2/4 entertwined in the 6/8. Enjoy
