Well, took longer to get up and running than I thought it would. Much, much longer... owie.
This is a modified version of this midi - https://www.dropbox.com/s/86mlpeiaul8n4ie/_nostalgiaXP.MID?dl=0 - the modifications produce an inferior soundfield IMO, but are required to play the file properly on Windows Vista, 7 or above. Apparently the polyphony limit in the default software synthesiser was reduced, causing the lead melody to break on windows 7.
If you've got an XP machine kicking around still, might be worth trying both versions so you can see the difference. It's not major, but it is noticeable, especially for headphone users.
