Daniel's Easter Harpola

Daniel's Easter Harpola

A little improvised four-movement suite made yesterday to herald the arrival of Daniel (who I've not met yet), born during this cold, snowy and blustery Easter weekend. It's difficult to imagine the future life of a baby born in 2008, but the four movements here are all very different in character, maybe suggesting some of the possibilities. It begins with a fanfare-like introduction, and then there's a slow and purely percussive 'Click Waltz', followed by 'Arm a Knee' - a simple string piece with a Jim Taylor-type title - and finally the 'Easter Harpola' of the title.
